Free Will vs Predestination

Yes much, where would
I even begin :) As soon as I say that, this comes to mind... OK, I may totally
lose you here - as in you thinking I'm whacked... And this is
not easy to try and express, but here it is:
I have come to
understand that predestination and free will are not a
paradox, but are compliments, just as all seeming opposites,
for example: male and female, light and dark, good and evil,
creation and evolution, all different sides of the same coin
working in unison... both are true at the same time. Much
became clear to me when I saw past the illusion of paradoxes,
and grasped that though this illusion is necessary for the
evolution of consciousness, it is something we eventually see
beyond and discard.
I believe God, the
Source, is the Totality, and that nothing exists that is not
part of God. I also believe that it is when God first
became self aware, that the BIG BANG happened... [Explode -
To cause to release energy
(a synonym for spirit)
or burst violently]... that it is when we were created in His
image if you will -
countless smaller versions of His (energy) spirit - and that we are trying to return to
Him (home)... become whole again, one with Him... Yet we are Him
(just not in whole of course, or fully aware). I believe we are God expanding
Himself through His own creations... evolving through the
experience of the manifest [to be realized - incarnate]).
I believe God's creation [expression] is constantly evolving. There is
of course much more to say about this... but that's another subject.
I believe in
reincarnation, and I also believe there is evidence of
reincarnation in the Bible. Life makes no sense to me without
it. I believe the spirit that animates us, before it enters
the body, chooses a path (predestination) which holds the best
possible experience for the advancement towards reconciliation
with God (the Source). Once the spirit enters the body
(incarnates), a living soul is created...
Genesis 2:7 tells us "And Jehovah God formed the man out of
dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils the breath of
life (spirit), and man BECAME a LIVING soul"..."When
thou sendeth forth thy spirit, they are created." -Psalm
104:30...
and when the spirit leaves the body, it separates from the
soul,
"The spirit returns to
God who gave it." -Ecclesiastes 12:7..."The
word of God is living and active and sharper than any
two-edged sword, and cuts so deeply it divides the soul from
the spirit." -Hebrews 4:12 Also known as being torn to
pieces... Hosea 6:5, Psalm 50:22, Jeremiah 5:5-6, Isaiah 8:9.
It is possible though,
to keep the two (three including the body) in tact, transcending this separation...
"May the God of peace
himself sanctify you absolutely whole, and may your spirit and
soul and body be kept sound..." -I Thessalonians 5:23... which ends the
cycle of reincarnation, and takes us fully back to God
consciousness, or re-unites us with Him. I think this is the ultimate goal, and what
Jesus was the first one to accomplish, therefore making the
way possible through His example... "the Way, the Truth, and
the Life.." (John 14:6).
I
think Jesus was Adam, the original son of God, not born of woman, and
therefore Creator and Father of all humanity - the son's of men -
those born of woman, starting with Eve... and that when
Christ's spirit
eventually reincarnated as Jesus, instead of veering off the
path, He stayed true to course that time, to His original
purpose. He had the
free will to choose not to live out His predestination
(destiny), but chose to see it through, and was finally fully
aware of what it was. I think His complete
awareness of who he was - the I AM - came from a collection of
lifetimes, until His spirit became aware enough to withstand the
gravitational pull from the decent into the body, which alters
the frequency of the spirit, causing it to forget why it incarnated.
I believe we are
always walking towards the goal of re-union with God... But
that we have the
free will not to follow the path of original intent
(predestination). I believe we
are happiest though, when following our predestined path, as
the spirit dwelling within us would naturally have chosen the
very best course for it's evolution (growth, unfolding,
or metamorphosis). It is when we (as living souls) argue with the
direction of spirit, and veer
from our predestined path (by not following our hearts) that we (as living souls) struggle and endure pain,
which eventually puts us back on the path of spirit. It is this struggle
and pain that forces us to ask the question WHY, to seek the
answers from God, which is only when the answers come (are heard
from within, with the heart - notice 'heart' contains the words
'ear' and
'hear').
"Let whoever seeks not cease from his seeking until he finds. When he finds he will be troubled
(we usually only earnestly seek when we are troubled). When he is troubled, he will marvel
(at what the spirit gives for an answer) and will reign over
all ( by realizing that we are indeed a piece of God and not
separate from Him)." -Jesus, The Gospel of Thomas.
Becoming troubled sets us back on the path and leads to the
final realization. "For as many as are led
by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God".
-Romans 8:14
So predestination and
free will work hand in hand; both are happening at the same
time... In my humble opinion.
One of my top 10
awareness altering books is
The Division of
Consciousness by Peter Novak. It is all about
separation of the spirit and soul at death, reincarnation,
etc... Showing it all very clearly in the Bible... And the
role Jesus played... I read it in two days, couldn't put it
down.

Shelley

How do you reconcile
reincarnation with the following:
Heb 9:27
"And inasmuch as it is
appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh
judgment..."

This begs the question
what is man?
Genesis 2:7 tells us
"And Jehovah God formed the man out of dust from the ground,
and blew into his nostrils the breath of life (spirit), and
man BECAME a LIVING soul." What does living mean? It means
breathing. When man dies, it is because he stops breathing.
The body no longer contains the spirit... But the spirit that
animates the man goes back to God (I believe to go forth again
- reincarnate - reanimate another body and create another
living soul). Man dies (stops breathing)... But spirit never
dies (it is the life force).
The following are just
a handful of the many scriptures about this...
"When thou sendeth
forth thy spirit, they are created." -Psalm 104:30
"Don't you know that
you are the temple of God, and the spirit of God dwells within
you?" -I Corinthians 3:16
"If He gathered onto
Himself his spirit... All flesh would perish.: -Job 34:14-15
"The spirit returns to
God who gave it." -Ecclesiastes 12:7
Spirit is responsible
for consciousness (thought), not the soul, as stated here:
"The spirit searches everything... Who knows a man's thoughts
except the spirit of the man which is in him?" -I Corinthians
2:10-11
"The word of God is
living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and
cuts so deeply it divides the soul from the spirit." -Hebrews
4:12 Also known as being torn to pieces... Hosea 6:5 Psalm
50:22 Jeremiah 5:5-6 Isaiah 8:9
"May the God of peace
himself sanctify you absolutely whole, and may your spirit and
soul and body be kept sound..." - I Thessalonians 5:23
And here is some
reincarnation evidence in the Bible:
It was thought that
Elijah would return to life on earth... "See, I will send you
the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the
Lord comes." - Malachi 4:5
And in Matthew, Jesus
maintains that the one known then as John the Baptist was in
fact the same man who had lived centuries earlier as Elijah...
"This is the one... There has not risen anyone greater than
John the Baptist... And if you are willing to accept it, he is
the Elijah who was to come. He who has EARS, let him HEAR." -
Matthew 11:11-15
"To be sure, Elijah
comes and will restore all things, But I tell you, Elijah has
already come, and they did not RECOGNIZE him, but have done to
him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is
going to suffer at their hands." Then the disciples understood
that he was talking to them about John the Baptist." - Matthew
17:11
"The angel said to
[John the Baptist's father] "... He [John} will go...in the
SPIRIT and power of Elijah...to make ready a people prepared
for the Lord." -Luke 1:17
[John] confessed
freely...They asked him, "Who are you? Are you Elijah?" He
said, "I am not." "Are you the prophet?" He answered "No."
-John 1:21 He didn't know who he was... He didn't remember
being Elijah... But the scripture clearly states he was...
When Jesus came to the
region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do
people say the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John
the Baptist; others say Elijah, and still others, Jeremiah or
one of the prophets." -Matthew 16:14
One other indirect
reference:
Jesus [said] "No one
who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father
or children or land for me and the Gospel will fail to receive
a hundred times as much in this present age-homes, brothers,
sisters, mothers, children, and fields...and in the age to
come, eternal life." -Mark 10:29-30 (Side note: what is
ETERNAL LIFE? Living means Breathing, life is breath, so
eternal life must mean that the body and soul will one day
retain the spirit forever... Never again to be divided.)
"Outside of the
doctrine of reincarnation it's difficult to imagine how such a
promise could be fulfilled. In one lifetime, one can have only
a single set of parents, and no one seriously proposes that
each of the seventy original disciples, who actually left
their homes and families, ever received as compensation a
hundred wives, a hundred fields, and so on. Either this
statement of Jesus' occurred when he was waxing so poetic as
to allow a falsehood to pass his lips, or he was making a
promise that only many reincarnations could fulfill." -Peter
Novak
There is much more...
This is why I highly recommend the book,
The Division of
Consciousness by Peter Novak.
